Starting a blog

If my to do list app TickTick is to be believed, I've had "Get markdown blog posts loading" on my to do list since early 2021. Ever since I built my own website in 2019 I wanted to start a blog to write some musings. I was always held back by the fact that I didn't think I would be able to write blog posts that were becoming of a software engineer. You know the types of posts I'm referring to. You see them on hackernews and they have some intense PhD level analysis of the effects of array cardinality on hashmaps in Rust programs or something like that. I always found these blog posts interesting but felt that I didn't have the focus and knowledge to produce one on my own. One day I would love to get to that level of expertise in a topic, and security in my own writing, to decide that I should publish an informational blog post.

This blog

I've decided instead to just start a blog anyway. If I want to get better at doing something the first step has to be doing the thing. There is a power in practice and an even greater power in routine practice. The posts here won't always be high brow and they won't always be related to building software but I endeavor to write them in a way that they remain engaging and interesting no matter what the topic is. My goal is to have the blog reflect my learning and growth as a person, photographer, and engineer. With any luck I'll be able to impart some knowledge on a reader out there as well. I hope I'm not the only person who can derive value from what I'll write here. Please come back often to see what I've written since you last visited.
